On October 27th, 2012, Dr. Pat Allen received the “Excellence in Service Award” at the Friendly House 23rd Annual Awards Luncheon which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Along with my honor, Sumner Redstone accepted the “Humanitarian Award” and the “Woman of the Year Award” was presented to Viola Davis. Russell Brand was the emcee.
This was an afternoon filled with heart, humor and humanity. And while Dr. Pat Allen was flattered and a little humbled to be recognized this way, she knows that her acceptance of this award will bring great significance and much-needed fundraising to a cause that is very close to her personally.
Friendly House, established in 1951, was the first home for women in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction in theUnited States. It has become a role model of excellence for recovery homes throughout this country andEurope, and has provided services for tens of thousands of women with a success rate of over 76%, compared to the hospital average of 35%.
The goals of Friendly House are simple: to achieve a stabilized recovery from addiction, renew family relationships, and reintegrate into the community. With powerful methods and caring commitment, Friendly House helps women recover with dignity and purpose in every facet of their lives.
Dr. Allen knows what it is to struggle with addiction and one of the proudest accomplishments in her entire life was becoming sober. Dr. Allen hopes that all of her friends, will join with her to make a difference for Friendly House with your support and donations.
